Race Rehearsals

Race Rehearsals

Every year at the beginning of the season I do a couple race rehearsals to prep for the real deal.  Sometimes I use an early season local race or sometimes it's just me out at a lake.  This year I headed to Boerne Lake (Texas Hill Country) and did a practice sprint triathlon.

IRONMAN NOLA ??.? and JUNK

IRONMAN NOLA ??.? and JUNK

First of all, my friend, Damie Roberts who I traveled to NOLA said I better start blogging more. What better time to start than now? I had a great time traveling to NOLA with her and her husband. Thankfully, they know the area very well! I would have gone crazy trying to figure out where to go! They made the trip really fun and easy. Damie is a great friend to have around before a race!

Everything went great leading up to the race. I was pretty bummed the swim was cancelled due to the high winds, but that seems to be the chance you take when signing up for NOLA 70.3. Instead of a swim we started off with a 2.2ish mile run. There were 22 of us at the start and about half of them took off for a mad dash. I hung back a little knowing their pace was going to be what I would do if I were only doing a 5k. When I got into transition I was about a minute down from the leaders. Not to worry, because my cycling legs are there (thanks to my coach, Nick Waninger for busting my @ss!) Threshold watts have gone from 218 to 260 since November!
